Angelina Jolie had both of her breasts removed fearing that she might have cancer in the future.

This news shows me that people go through tough times and that life is not easy. I may be complaining about my stupid acne and thinking that God has cursed me for good but when I see stories like these, I realize that each of us deals with his or her battle. Life is simply not easy... we just have to have courage to face it without fear.

XOXO,

I have mixed feelings on this. I respect her for making such a serious choice about her life and body, but I personally don't agree with removing the breasts because of a chance of cancer in the future.

i have recently lost a few people in life.one of them was as closest to as my mum or dad.she's my maternal grandmum.

she's the one who's literally brought me up till i was ant 10..i lived with her then.even after which we shifted near her place and i would visit her almost every week.

what hurts me (although i was unable to react to her death for some reason..i couldnt cry) is that she suffered.mask, rice tube, went into the stage of coma, had no sense, dint close her eyes for 4 days.

others i lost was a granddad and uncle of mine.

they were just as close and two most beautiful people i knew.

my uncle had cancer and he fought.he was in his 40s and i dont think i should discuss his suffereings here because it was pathetic.

what i mean to say is there's so much more around..not just death or pain but small-big failures.

i see people losing loved ones, mothers losing minds for they've lost their child, children dying because they dont have a meal a day or even clean water..and i feel so small and selfish for crying over bumps on my face.

i feel small.

and helpless.

i feel blessed.

and helpless.

For some women it is almost 100% necessary to have a double-mastectomy because the chances of them getting breast cancer are so high (due to a gene that they carry) that it's almost guaranteed that they will get cancer and only a matter of time before they do. Those that carry the gene are more liable to getting aggressive (fast spreading) forms of cancer that almost 9 times out of 10 kill the individual that inhabits it.

Some women have mothers, aunts, grandmothers and great-grandmothers all which have died in their 40s-50s because they were carriers of this gene. The decision Angelina Jolie made is one that I assume was very difficult, but at the same time very sensible. I take my hat off to her - most high-profile celebrities would chose their careers and appearance over their health.

Well said. Except the last sentence which I bolded I don't agree with.

I heard about this today and was saddened. Christina Applegate had this done as well. I saw her speaking about it with tears rolling down her cheeks in a talkshow. Such a traumatic thing... Hard to imagine what they are going through. And they're both fairly young as well...

Well. Considering a lot of celebrities undergo quite risky procedures purely to improve their appearance, I don't see why It's inaccurate. Some take drugs to keep them awake, drugs to get them to sleep, drugs to enhance their performances and more drugs just to help them leave their houses. A lot of celebrities have caused accidental overdoses because they can't cope with the lifestyle, but continue to take drugs because their career means more to them than simply getting help.

The above is just an example and I know all celebrities aren't the same, but there are a lot of celebrities that choose their career over things that really matter. Angelina in this case put her kids and her health first.

I feel sorry for Angelina - it's not easy to get rid of one (actually, two...) of the most important female asset... But what are breasts compared to a chance to a longer life raising your children, creating your legacy?

Cancer is devastating and it doesn't choose - be a greatest actor and sex symbol or a simple-minded village wench, everyone's equal in the sight of death, everyone tries to grab on their fragile mortal lives. Valar morghulis, hehe (GoT fans will understand...)
